Many problems may occur in teeth for many reasons which leads to losing the teeth. In addition to chewing problems and appearance losing teeth causes a massive disruption in the jaw and affect people’s lives negatively.

The artificial teeth are designed in the form of screws and roots used to treat the problem of losing teeth. These teeth looks like natural teeth and it does its functions. The placed part in the jaw is called the implanted tooth. The artificial teeth are implanted in the jaw through surgery. Therefore the empty spaces that occurred due to losing teeth are filled. Additionally, it is possible to make the procedure after tooth extraction.

Dental Implants Types

Dental Implants are separated into two types depending on treated area

1 – Endosteal Implant: In this method the roots are placed directly in the jaw it is possible to implant one tooth or more The roots are in the form of tiny conical or cylindrical screws
2 – Subperiosteal Implant: In this method a metal base is connected to the jaw’s bone tissue or gum The artificial roots are implanted to support the gum and simulate the natural roots functions.

The endosteal implant method is used more than subperiosteal method if the jaw’s bones cannot handle the implantation process it is possible to use the subperiosteal method.

The method is selected depending on the patient’s need and doctor’s opinion. In addition it is possible to do the procedure on one tooth or the whole mouth. It takes one day when the whole mouth is implanted, and the results lasts for a lifetime. As a note, dental implant procedure has been performing in Turkey for years.

The Used Materials in Dental Implants

The used materials varies from each other in properties:

Titanium: The most used and compatible material with tissues. Titanium is the first choice for doctors, it is safe, strong, and its results are effective and last for a long time.
Porcelain and Polymer: It is possible to use these materials for patients who does not want a metal material in their mouth. However the implants made of porcelain and polymer are not preferred.
Zirconium: This material is used instead of titanium, since it contains metal and it is a strong material, but it is under the ceramic category.

During the examination your doctor will determine which material is better for your condition.

Who Can Undergo Dental Implants?

People whom their growth phase has completed.
People with good general health.
People who do not suffer chronic diseases such as diabetes and blood pressure, or if the levels of these diseases are low.
People whom their jawbones allows to have Dental Implants (people whom their jawbones does not allow them to undergo Dental Implants can use more advanced techniques to treat this problem).

In addition, people who have no diseases in their gum can undergo Dental Implants after the doctor’s confirmation.

Selecting The Doctor And The Hospital

Before having Dental Implants the doctor will examine the teeth carefully. With X-RAY scan, the doctor will examine the gum, the nerves, and the jaw’s structure. It is also possible to use computed tomography.

There should be enough bone tissue to undergo the operation. If there is not, advanced techniques are used to achieve bone growth before the operation. Then you can start the operation.

It is possible to undergo the operation after tooth extraction in the same day or later. In addition, smoking affects the operation negatively, the patient should stop smoking before the operation and after it.

Before Dental Implants

This procedure is done under local anesthesia in Turkey.

The duration is about 30 minutes to two hours, depending on the used material and other details.

If porcelain is used teeth surface and enamel should be cleaned and remove a layer with a thickness of 0.5 mm of the frontal surface of the tooth.

Then UV light will add the designed layer to the tooth surface.

The composite resin needs less time than porcelain, by adding layers of composite resin on tooth then it is installed by UV light. In many cases, this procedure can be done without anesthesia. While using zirconium, the teeth are minimized first, then adding the designed layer that fits the patient. Finally, the teeth are whitened and given the natural Hollywood Smile.

During Dental Implants

Dental Implants operation contains two stages. In the first stage, the doctor will make an incision in the gum then place the root in the jaw. After this step, you should wait until the roots harmonize with jawbones. After this, the artificial teeth are implanted by binding or pasting. This operation is done under local anesthesia. Depending on the amount of implanted teeth, the operation takes about 10-15 minutes for each tooth.

After Dental Implants

No need to stay in the hospital after the operation of Dental Implants. However, patients should consider these points:

Patients should use painkillers and antibiotics and follow the doctor’s instructions.
Chewing might be light for one or two days. This is normal and ends in a short period.
Do not chew using the implanted teeth for a couple of days after the operation. Also, do not eat harsh foods.
After having Dental Implants, take care of mouth and teeth hygiene to get a healthy healing process.
